PAÑACOCHA TOUR (Piranha Lagoon) 4 DAYS – 3 NIGHTS

Pañacocha reserve
It is located in the province of Sucumbios, in what is the canton Shushufindi at altitudes between 200-300 m. The temperature varies between 25 and 30 ºC year-round.
Pañacocha was declared a biological reserve in the year 1986, and has an area of 50,000 hectares.
Near this is Pañacocha community, if we take a path we can reach Aguarico river. It is a tropical rain forest in which we can see species of the family Sapotaceae, Fabaceae, with a canopy that is 30m tall. The subcanopy species include Moreceae like family, Flacourtiaceae, arecaceae, the understory reaches 15m with families Lauraceae, Meliaceae. Animals can be seen too, such as howler monkeys, varix, machines, peccaries, tapirs, and a various number of birds.
It is a great place for sightseeing as you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and great diversity of species, and the lagoon itself is very lovely. With a little luck we can observe the great pink dolphin. Read more..
